18th Cavalry, (163rd Regiment), State Standard. Composed of men from more than thirteen counties across the Commonwealth, the 18th cavalry was organized in the fall of 1862, and was led by Colonel Timothy M. Bryan. The state standard was received sometime in January 1863. The flag was captured on November 18, 1863 at Germanna Ford on the Rapidan River. The 18th cavalry was mustered out of service on June 24, 1865.
